Ammiel will kick things off at 1 pm with a segment on his novella Islanders, just out from City Lights Publishers, then we’ll carry on into the celebration of Bird & Beckett’s own first foray into publishing. Carla, Micah, Walker, Neeli, Maggie, Barry, Jack, John & Marina will all read a bit from their work in the Review. There’ll be a short break or two to enjoy some food or drink and schmooze, then a litle after 4:30 pm a performance by the Rachid Halihal Ensemble, playing music of the Fertile Crescent, from Morocco to Egypt to the Persian Gulf.
Other contributors who might make it, but then again might not, include Diane di Prima & Michael McClure. We’re very sorry to say that Maryam Monalisa Gharavi, Joj Kastra, Nathaniel Mackey, Benjamin Morris & Barbara Jane Reyes just can’t make it.
